About

The Full Story

My name is Shawn Montero, and I’m from Westerville, Ohio. I’m a sophomore at Westerville South High School, and I’ve always believed that you shouldn’t wait for opportunities — you make them yourself. I’ve never been the type to sit back and hope for success. I learn by doing, even if it means failing along the way.

When I first got into solar, I’ll be honest — I didn’t join because I wanted to change the world. I joined because I wanted to make money fast so I could chase my dream of racing. Cars have always been a big part of who I am. My goal has always been to race professionally and build my own name in motorsports. Solar started as a way to fund that dream, but what I didn’t expect was how much it would teach me — not just about work, but about people and purpose.

Working in the field opened my eyes. I started realizing how many homeowners were stuck paying high electric bills and didn’t even know they had other options. The more I talked with people, the more I saw how much of a difference I could actually make — not by selling, but by explaining, by listening, and by helping them understand what solar really is. That’s when it stopped being just a job. It became something real.

Now, when I go out every day, I’m not thinking about making a sale — I’m thinking about helping people own their own power. I’m thinking about families who are tired of being overcharged, who finally want control over what they pay. Every homeowner I talk to deserves honesty and respect, and I take pride in giving them that.

I built TGEShawn.com so people could find me directly and know who they’re talking to — not some automated system, not a faceless company. It’s me. I set my own appointments, I handle my own marketing and outreach, and I do it because I want to build something that’s mine — something that represents real work and real results.

But it took a lot of failures to get here. Before solar, I tried to start my own businesses — Premier Field Coverage, NLSports Network, Diamond Finish Detailing, and even Montero Motorsports. Each one was a dream that I poured myself into. Some of them grew for a while, and some completely fell apart. I failed, again and again. But every failure taught me something — how to talk to people, how to manage money, how to build a brand, and most importantly, how to keep going when things don’t work out.

Those failures are the reason I’m here now. They pushed me to get better. They taught me how to stay focused and patient, how to own my mistakes, and how to take the lessons forward instead of giving up. Starting over so many times is what made me realize that success isn’t about getting lucky — it’s about staying consistent and refusing to quit.

Now, solar is my next chapter — not another “try,” but the one I’m turning into something real. This job gives me a way to grow my business mindset, meet new people, and build a foundation that will help me reach my dream of racing. I’m not running from my failures anymore; I’m using them.

At the end of the day, my goal isn’t just to make money — it’s to prove that when you refuse to quit, even failure becomes part of the story that makes you stronger. I believe in being real, honest, and hardworking. I believe in helping others while building myself. And I believe that success doesn’t start when things go right — it starts when you keep showing up after everything goes wrong.

Each appointment I set, each sale I make, every commission I earn — it all goes toward my dream to race. Every bit of effort I put into solar is fueling that bigger goal. But the truth is, this dream isn’t something I can reach alone. Every homeowner I help, every person who decides to switch to solar through me, becomes part of that journey.

When you choose to work with me, you’re not just saving money or lowering your bills — you’re helping me chase the dream I’ve been working toward since day one. You’re proving that young people with ambition can rise, and that ordinary people can make extraordinary things happen when they support one another.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that change doesn’t just happen — people make it happen. You have the power to make a change in your life by taking control of your energy, and at the same time, you have the power to change mine by helping me reach my dream.

This is more than just solar. It’s my story, my purpose, and my chance to prove that with hard work, faith, and support, anyone can turn their vision into reality.
